Sheron Joan (Mulligan) Petesch, 74
Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 12 years AGO
Sheron Joan (Mulligan) Petesch “proceeded through the pearly gates of Heaven” at 9 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2013. Sheron had a valiant four-year battle with various health issues.
She was born to Joseph and Elsie Mulligan on March 4, 1938, at St. James Hospital in Butte.
Sheron attended St. Anne’s grade school and graduated from Butte Central High School in 1956. She received her degree in nursing from Carroll College in 1959, and continued on to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in January 1961.
During her senior year at Carroll, she met Jim Petesch and the two were married at St. Anne’s Parish in Butte on Feb. 4, 1961. Sheron worked as a nurse in the early years of their marriage, but her focus was on raising their five children and supporting their family business, Petesch Electric.
Sheron had a wonderful green thumb and loved spending time gardening and growing her flowers and plants. She hosted many family friends, and friends of her children, at their family home on Foy’s Lake. In their last two Kalispell homes, Sheron insisted on having a greenhouse where she could continue to grow and culture her flowers. The rewards of her labor were evident to anyone who visited their home and beautiful yard(s) where they hosted many gatherings of friends and family through the years.
Sheron was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph (1952) and Elsie (1972) Mulligan.
Sheron is survived by her husband, Jim Petesch; and five children, Dan of Los Angeles, Cheryl (Petesch) and Kevin Mackay of Mill Creek, Wash., Mari (Petesch) and Evan Ilias of Redmond, Wash., Joleen (Petesch) and John Osborne of Kalispell, and Jennifer (Petesch) and Scott Poverud of Vancouver, Wash.; her sister, Gail (Mulligan) Griffin and husband Tren; and her eight grandchildren, JonAlan and Josh Osborne, Taylor and Emily Mackay, Demetri and Alex Ilias, and Ryder and Regan Poverud. Her grandchildren brought significant joy to her life and watching them grow was one of her greatest pride and pleasures.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home (Viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.) Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, with Father Rod Ermatinger as celebrant.
