Athlete wanted

Wanted: One person who wants to run, bike or swim, who has overcome a few challenges, and wouldn't mind some help getting ready for a race.

Megan Motley, member of Cda TRI-Fit, said the club is looking to sponsor an athlete who has conquered obstacles and is looking to prepare for anything from a 3-mile fun run to an Ironman.

The club will provide coaching, training and pay an entry fee. In the case of Ironman, it might be a partial payment, with the athlete required to pay most of it.

"At least with Ironman, I want to not so much race the clock as help somebody deserving get the finish," said Motley, who will be the person's training partner and has completed three Ironmans, including Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2012.

Candidates should have some gear if they want to sign up for a triathlon.

About 10 people have already expressed interest in signing on for the program.

Someone who has battled cancer, weight issues and surgeries, and now wants to get fit again and compete in a race, and could use some help, might be an ideal candidate, Motley said, but there are no restrictions.

This project goes along with Cda TRI-fit's mission, which started out as a group of friends and has a dream to bring those in the community with an interest in fitness together.

Club members will select the person after reviewing applications.

Those interested can call Motley, 755-6117, or email their background, goal race and other thoughts to info@cdatriteam.com
