Bigfork squads stump Troy teams

Despite keeping the game close in the first quarter, the quickness of the Bigfork Lady Vikings was too much for Troy High School’s girls basketball team Friday. Bigfork won 43-15 in a walk.
Troy was behind 8-4 after one, but the Lady Vikings really began to influence the game in the last three quarters.
The Lady Trojans were outscored 10-0 in the second quarter and 17-6 in the fourth. Jordan Williams led Troy with six points coming off two late-game 3-pointers.
Bigfork was just too quick for Troy to hang with. Quicker passing, quicker hands and quicker shooting downed the Lady Trojans.
The Lady Viking’s junior post Tessa Robertson led all scorers with 15, and freshman guard Mattison McNally caused frustration and turnovers all game long to go along with her four points.
The Troy boys basketball team fared slightly better, but still was handily defeated by Bigfork 57-31 on Friday night.
The Trojans actually outscored the Vikings 13-11 in the first quarter and were down only 18-16 at the half.
Then the jets came on. The Vikings scored 15, then 24 points while Troy had nine and six.
Junior forward Christian Evans had 21 points, including 12 in the second half to break open the game for the Vikings.
Troy’s senior guard Austin Grable and junior forward Luke Haggerty scored 11 points each to lead the Trojans.
Bigfork had height and quickness, but Troy gave them more than a little help by getting into foul trouble. The Vikings outscored Troy at the line 8-1.
Junior forward Bruce Metz earned himself a technical after a vocal response under the basket to what appeared to be a poor call.
Both Troy teams will play Mission at home on Saturday. The games begin at 1:30 p.m.
