Woman pleads not guilty to 4th DUI

A 60-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded not guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to what would be her fourth offense of driving under the influence.
Janice White is alleged to have been driving her vehicle on Dec. 25, 2012, when, according to witnesses, she crossed the center line three times into oncoming traffic before crossing the entire road and going over the embankment on the opposite side.
When a Montana Highway Patrol trooper responded to the scene, he reported that he smelled alcohol on White’s breath, that she slurred her speech and that her eyes were bloodshot despite her denial that she had been drinking.
White reportedly failed a breath alcohol test at the scene and at the Flathead County Detention Center.
Her prior convictions for drunk driving came in November 2004, April 2005 and September 2006. The court document also states she is currently on probation for a criminal endangerment conviction resulting from a felony drunk driving arrest in July 2010.
If convicted of the felony charge, she faces up to five years in jail and a fine of between $1,000 and $10,000. Her next hearing is scheduled for March 6.
