Softball sign-ups

Wrestling sign-ups
The Columbia Falls Little Guy Wrestling Club will hold sign-ups on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Columbia Falls High School gym foyer. The season will begin Feb. 11. Baseball practice
Columbia Falls Baseball will hold winter workouts beginning Feb. 11 at Ruder Elementary School on Mondays and Tuesdays for 8, 9 and 10-year-old players and Thursdays and Fridays for 11 and 12-year-old players from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A parent or guardian must accompany players at the first practice to sign insurance forms. Snow Joke run
The 34th annual Snow Joke Half Marathon race will take place in Seeley Lake on Feb. 23. The 13.1-mile race is sponsored by the Cheetah Herders Athletic Club and is USA Track and Field Montana’s 2012 half marathon championship race. Last year, 538 racers participated. Bill requires verification before issuing driver's licenses
A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.
Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
