Commissioners begin 2013 with resolutions
Keith Cousins/Mineral Independent | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 years, 11 months AGO
During the first regular meeting of the Mineral County Commissioners for the year 2013, the commissioners went about adopting a series of resolutions that will affect their day-to-day operations in the future.
The first order of business was to select and elect a chairman for the commissioners. In one of her first official duties as a Mineral County Commissioner, Laurie Johnston nominated Commissioner Roman Zylawy for the position. Commissioner Duane Simons seconded the motion and it passed unanimously – making Commissioner Zylawy the Chairman of the county commissioners for 2013.
The meeting dates of the county commissioners will also be changing as a result of the resolutions passed on Jan. 7.
Starting in February, county commissioners will meet on Thursday and Friday of the first full week of every month. After the first meetings, subsequent meetings will take place every Friday as well as on the last working day of every month.
Regular department director meetings will be held once a month on the first Thursday of the month.
During the meeting the commissioners also selected which boards they would be assigned to (see chart on right).
In one of the last of the New Year Resolutions, Commissioner Zylawy made a motion to maintain the current rate of credit for those incarcerated in the county jail at $62.50 per day.
The county commissioners also adopted per diem and travel/mileage reimbursement rates for county employees.
