Commissioners sworn in

BONNERS FERRY — A crowd gathered in the Boundary County courthouse to witness new and re-elected officials being sworn in on Jan. 14.

The newest elected official is LeAlan Pinkerton, who was sworn in as a Boundary County Commissioner.

Pinkerton joins Commissioner Walt Kirby who has been a commissioner since 2003. Also being sworn in for another term is Commissioner Dan Dinning who has been serving since 2001.

Dinning was also elected Boundary County Commissioner chair.

Two others being sworn in were Sheriff Greg Sprungl, who has been serving since 2005, and Prosecuting Attorney Jack Douglas, who has been serving since 2003.

Know signs for grizzly bears

Seeing grizzly bear tracks in the snow on the trail always heightens my awareness, especially relatively fresh tracks where the claw marks can still be seen. The scenarios of what could happen start rolling through my head as I begin to make more noise.
