COEUR d'ALENE - Police said a man's ex-girlfriend is the suspect in an incident in which his car was vandalized, but for now she's allegedly only taking part of the blame.

A 50-year-old Coeur d'Alene man told police his 1998 BMW 528 was parked in the Loftus Family Dental office parking on the 2600 block of north Fruitland Lane late Saturday when two tires were slashed and two doors were keyed. The parking lot is just north of Appleway Avenue and west of U.S. 95.

The man said he believed his ex-girlfriend was behind the damage after she confronted him at the Silver Fox bar, located in the 600 block of west Appleway Avenue, according to a police report released Wednesday.

He reported that she was angry with him, then stormed out of the bar.

He later returned to his car and found the rear tires slashed and driver's side front and rear doors badly scratched.

He told police he later spoke with her and she allegedly admitted to damaging the car.

She allegedly sent him a text message that stated, "I'll do whatever I need to do to fix it," the police report said.

He met up with her at her place of work on Sunday and he received $120 for the damage.

Police went to the dental office parking lot to inspect the damaged vehicle and take photographs.

"The scratches were deep and appeared to be done with a sharp metal object," the police report said.

Police found blood on the ground in the snow next to the car.

Police contacted the woman who said that she was angry because he had been unfaithful.

She went to a couple bars looking for him.

The ex-girlfriend told police the woman he cheated on her with works at one of the bars.

She told police he "threw it in her face" that he had cheated.

"She admitted to damaging his vehicle, saying it was a spur of the moment incident that she did out of anger," the police report said.

With a small pocket knife from her purse, she stabbed the two tires.

"(She) admitted she ... cut her left index finger during this incident," the report said. She allegedly admitted the blood in the snow was likely from her finger.

However, she did deny making the scratches.

Police estimated the damage at $1,240.
