LEWISTON - Lake City's Kassie Torres had nine points and seven rebounds and held Lewiston senior guard Karlee Wilson to three points, but it was Wilson's sophomore sister - Lynzee, who scored 22 points - that led the Bengals to a 48-35 5A Inland Empire League win against the Timberwolves at Booth Hall on Friday night.

"Kassie did an amazing job of taking Karlee out of the game defensively," Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. "But her little sister stepped it up. Kassie did a great job on the boards and was really confident going to the basket and finishing. But you can't spot them nine points, especially down there. We battled and got it down to four in the third quarter, but they knocked down free throws."

Lake City (10-10, 0-6 5A IEL) will face league champion Post Falls at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the 5A Region 1 tournament next Friday at Post Falls, with Lewiston (15-5, 3-3) facing Coeur d'Alene at 5:30.

RATHDRUM - Chuckie Adams hit two 3-pointers midway through the fourth quarter to help visiting Lake City rally past Lakeland in a nonleague basketball game at Hawk Court.

“We jumped on them pretty good for 3 1/2 quarters,” Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. “We just couldn’t get any separation on them. They hit some 3-pointers and we didn’t score much in that last 4-minute stretch and they just put the game away at the free throw line.”

Riley Moreen scored 14 points for Lake City (12-4), which hosts Post Falls on Tuesday.

Randy McCabe scored eight points for Lakeland (7-8), which travels to Post Falls tonight for the “Prairie Pig” spirit game.
