Dean’s lists

Heidi Harper, of Columbia Falls, was recently named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at Nebraska Methodist College, an affiliate of Methodist Health System, in Omaha, Neb.

Three students from Columbia Falls maintained a 3.33 minimum grade-point average and were named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at the University of Montana-Western in Dillon — Madison Sandefer, Kelly Houle and Mitchell Wassam.

The following students from Columbia Falls were named to the fall 2012 semester dean’s list at Carroll College in Helena. To be included, a student must receive a 3.5 grade point average or better for the semester and take at least 12 credits. One student earned a 4.0 grade point average. Columbia Falls — Allison Lampman, Benjamin Donner, Derrick Williams 4.0, and Nathan Woods.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
