COEUR d'ALENE - A suspect is in custody from a Monday burglary of TKS Painting, at 183 W. Haycraft, Coeur d'Alene police said Wednesday.

Employees discovered the burglary when they opened up for business Monday morning.

A door was kicked in to gain entry, and the business offices were ransacked. The owner discovered his guns, cash, a large backpack, and a laptop computer were stolen.

Detectives collected evidence at the scene that led them to an address and later to suspect Jesse Daniel Upchurch.

One 9 mm handgun stolen from TKS Painting was recovered during the investigation. Still missing is a shotgun, a hunting rifle, a .22-caliber handgun, and a .357-caliber revolver as well as the laptop, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Through the course of the investigation officers discovered Upchurch had also allegedly attempted to gain entry to Robideaux Motors on the same date by breaking a window. Nothing was taken in that burglary.

Upchurch has been charged with two counts of burglary and is currently in custody at the Kootenai County jail.

Anyone who has any information on this crime, the location of the stolen guns, as well as the other stolen property is asked to call police at (208) 789-2320.
