Organic pomegranate kernels sold at Pilgrim's Market and Super 1 Foods in Coeur d'Alene are among those being recalled due to the potential for Hepatitis A virus contamination.

Scenic Fruit Company of Gresham, Ore., announced it is voluntarily recalling 8-ounce bags of Woodstock frozen organic pomegranate kernels shipped from February to March.

People who purchased the product should not eat it, dispose of it immediately and keep the proof of purchase.

There have been no Idaho illnesses reported that are linked to the recall, but there is an ongoing investigation of illnesses associated with a pomegranate kernel-containing frozen berry blend distributed by Townsend Farms that was recalled from Idaho Costco stores recently.

Consumers who ate the Woodstock product within the past 14 days and haven't been vaccinated against Hepatitis A should contact their health care provider or health district to consider vaccination.

Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that usually occurs when an infected food handler prepares food without appropriate hand hygiene.
