The Glacier All-Stars 15U Babe Ruth league team earned some hardware at the annual Ed Gallo Tournament in Whitefish last weekend after topping the Kalispell Lakers A team in the third place game.

“It was good competition for these 15-year-olds to step up and play the older kids,” head coach Brent Wetsch said. “They stuck together as a team. You do that and you win.”

The All Stars’ bats caught fire in the 13-5 victory over the Lakers in near-record heat at Memorial Field on Sunday. Tristin Steinwand went 4-for-6 at the plate, and Colten Parker went 3-for-5 to lead the way.

“Everybody hit well,” Wetsch said.

Tyler Murphy pitch 2 2/3 innings, AJ Wetsch pitched three innings and Johnny Sapa closed it out on the mound.

In pool play, the All-Stars topped the Glacier Twins B team 10-2, lost to the Missoula Frontiers 0-12 and beat Calgary 9-0. The All-Stars will play in the Kalispell Firecracker Tournament this weekend.
