Few spaces left for Kids Grief Camp
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 12 years, 5 months AGO
COEUR d'ALENE - Hospice of North Idaho has just a few spaces left for its Kids Grief Camp, Camp Kaniksu July 12-14.
The overnight camp is free, and for grieving children ages 7-15 who have experienced the death of a loved one. The camp will be held at Camp Lutherhaven on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene.
The three-day camp experience is provided under the professional direction and supervision of bereavement counselors and trained volunteers from Hospice of North Idaho.
Both structured and non-structured activities are designed to help youth recognize they are not alone in their grief and that having fun is also part of the healing process. Traditional camp experiences are combined with therapeutic activities to help bereaved children explore their grief in a safe and supportive environment.
The remaining spots for Camp Kaniksu are available on a first come, first served basis. Those interested in the camp should turn in an application to Hospice of North Idaho by 4:30 p.m. Monday and should plan on being available for a brief interview with Hospice of North Idaho staff. Applications are available for download on the Hospice of North Idaho website, www.honi.org.
