MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man was tased after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop Monday afternoon.
Gabriel C. Correa, 30, was arrested after the vehicle he was riding in was stopped by a Moses Lake police officer about 2:50 p.m. in the 800 block of South Ironwood Drive.
Capt. Dave Sands said the vehicle was stopped in the middle of the road and the officer noticed the vehicle tags were expired.
According to police records, several of the occupants in the vehicle were known to carry knives or firearms. As officers were frisking the driver, Correa was constantly moving in the vehicle.
Officers then removed Correa from the vehicle and while attempting to frisk him, he took off on foot, according to reports. Correa allegedly jumped several residential fences in the neighborhood of Ironwood Drive and Olive Street, leading police on a foot chase for several blocks.
Correa was then located coming from behind a Ironwood Drive home, moving toward an officer, the report stated. Correa came out with his hands in his pockets, then pulled an object out.
A responding officer tased Correa before he was caught.
Correa is facing charges of obstruction, resisting arrest and criminal trespass. He was also arrested on a state Department of Corrections felony warrant and is listed as a community custody violator.
