POLSON — The Mission Valley Mariners improved to 4-0 at their Firecracker Tournament with wins against Cranbrook and the Glacier Twins’ B team Saturday on the third day of the four-day event.
Kellen Hoyt threw a five-inning one-hitter in a 9-1 win over Cranbrook. Devon Marra doubled in the first inning, and Hoyt only allowed two other runners to reach base — both via walks — the rest of the game.
Jeremiah Crawford and Jared Young each had two hits for the Mariners.
Chris Drebes held the Twins’ B team to one run on six hits in a 7-1 win. Ryan Pablo and Zeke Webster-Yaqui each batted 2 for 4 to lead Mission Valley’s offense.

POLSON — Kootenai Valley’s Colton Henrie led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, but the Rangers didn’t have enough offense to beat Dillon.
Austin Perez pitched all seven innings for the Rangers, allowing two earned runs on five hits in the losing effort.
Dalton Smith batted 3 for 3 to lead Kootenai Valley.
