Legion baseball: Libby sweeps Glacier; Mission Valley wins Firecracker Tournament

WHITEFISH — Libby swept an American Legion Class A baseball doubleheader from the Glacier Twins at Memorial Field on Sunday afternoon.

Luke Haggerty and Micah Germany had RBIs for the Loggers (26-15 overall, 11-4 conference) in a 3-0 victory in Game 2.

Will Reichel went 3 for 4 while Germany and Oliver Grupenhoff both were 2 for 4 in Game 1, a 6-2 Logger victory.

Germany doubled in that contest and had two RBIs. Haggerty also had two RBIs.

Shane Marcial was the lone Glacier player to get a hit in both contests.

Peter Seymor doubled for Glacier (26-13, 13-3) in the first game and Jayce Fagerland doubled for the Twins in the second game.

Glacier hosts Mission Valley on Tuesday. The doubleheader begins at 5 p.m.

Libby also has two home contests Tuesday — 4:05 p.m. versus the Strathmore Reds and a league make-up game with the Kalispell Lakers A at 6:35 p.m.

POLSON — Ryan Pablo singled in the first and second innings and tripled in the sixth and Jeremiah Crawford doubled in the third as Mission Valley rolled past Kootenai Valley in the championship game at the Firecracker Tournament.

Mission Valley took a 6-0 lead after three innings and added two more runs in the sixth to finish it off.

Pablo and Crawford both had two RBIs.

Crawford, Alex Killian and Quinn Harlan all had two hits each.

Zeke Webster-Yaqui went the distance on the mound for the Mariners (35-16). He held the Rangers to three hits while striking out five.

It was the seventh straight Firecracker title for the Mariners. Last year’s title game was rained out.

“The kids were swinging well,” Mariners coach Jami Hanson said of the 12 hits.

“Zeke threw really well. We played well defensively all weekend.”

The Mariners went 4-0 in tournament play.

Mission Valley is back in action today with a home doubleheader versus Salmon, Idaho, at 4 p.m.
