Four years ago the Memory Tent became a permanent part of the Mineral County Relay for Life.

It’s a place to reflect, to spend quiet moments remembering loved ones who fought cancer and passed away.

“We invite participants to bring in pictures and other items in memory of loved ones lost,” Peggy Temple said. “It’s a quiet corner and it has been very well accepted by the community.”

Throughout the relay on Friday, participants took time from walking laps to visit the tent. To spend moments remembering why the relay exists to begin with.

Although the tent represents those who fought a battle with cancer and lost, the tent also represents the fact that the war is not over and it will be waged and fought until cancer is but a memory.
