One teen dies, one hurt in Washington crash

LIND, Wash. — An 18-year-old Kalispell woman died and a young Kalispell man was injured in a crash in Washington state on Sunday.
Lineesa R. Abernathy died Sunday afternoon in a one-car rollover about eight miles south of Lind, Wash., according to the Washington State Patrol.
Abernathy was a passenger in a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Ryan W. Ek, 18, of Kalispell.
The car went off the highway, crossed the median and rolled across both southbound lanes. Abernathy was wearing a seat belt but died in the crash.
Ek was injured and transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash. He also was wearing a seat belt.
Abernathy graduated from Glacier High School and Ek graduated from Flathead High School last month.
The vehicle was totaled.
The wreck’s cause is under investigation.
State Route 395 was partially blocked by the accident Sunday afternoon.
Lind is 42 miles southeast of Moses Lake, Wash., and 17 miles southwest of Richland.
