A Bigfork woman is in jail after allegedly trying to rob the Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry in Evergreen on Monday.
According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, deputies arrested Julie Ann Deshazer, 46, a short distance from the pantry on Monday afternoon.
Curry said a blonde woman entered the pantry around 1:45 p.m., telling an employee to open the till and give her money or she would shoot the employee — although she never showed a weapon.
The woman did not get any money but took some clothes before fleeing, changing clothes at some point after leaving the pantry.
She was pursued by someone with the pantry as well as deputies who eventually captured Deshazer nearby. Deshazer was identified by the employee as the suspect.
“She is also in [jail] on a probation violation, with felony robbery pending,” Curry said.
Deshazer was briefly transported to the hospital emergency room after reportedly becoming unresponsive during interviews at the scene, but was cleared and taken to the Flathead County Detention Center.
