Robert S. Follette, 93, of Coeur d’Alene, died July 2, 2013. Robert was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Newell, S.D., to Fred K. and Leona Fern (Strayer) Follette.

He grew up on the family homestead near Vale, S.D., receiving his education in the schools of that area. He married Lois Irene Dorsey on Feb. 22, 1953, in Lincoln, Neb. Following their marriage he farmed and ranched near Vale then the family moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1968.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois at home; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Susie Follette of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Donovan and Lorie Follette Bothell, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Renelle and Dan Davis of Coeur d’Alene, and Lurlene and Clayton Fiscus of Billings, Mont.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister Delta Glee Waterman.

Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; daughter Roxanne; son Bill; brothers Everett, LeRoy, George and Richard; and a sister, Bertha Wendt.

Graveside services were held Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Ron Hunter officiating. Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
