The Kalispell Police Department is investigating the disappearance of a local man over the weekend.

Cody Johnson, 25, was last seen late Sunday night, although there is still some confusion as to what he was doing at the time.

The most common report is that Johnson was last seen leaving his home in a dark passenger car with Washington plates, according to friend and Nomad Global Communications Systems co-worker Cameron Fredrickson, who has contacted every news agency he could between here and Spokane.

“He doesn’t have his keys or his phone, and there has been no activity on his bank card. Absolutely no one — friends, family, anything — knows where he is located,” Fredrickson said Wednesday. “He had been having a normal day, he was seen at church that day and that evening he was seen at Dairy Queen at 9 p.m. before going home.”

Making the disappearance all the more confusing is that Johnson moved into a new home on June 22, just seven days before marrying his fiancee, Jordan Johnson.

Cody’s uncle, who also works with him at Nomad, was the one who reported Johnson missing to Kalispell police on Monday after he failed to show up for work.

Unlike Fredrickson’s comments, Johnson’s uncle told police he was told by Jordan that Cody Johnson went out with some friends Sunday night for a joy ride from which he never returned, according to a police blotter.

The blotter also indicated that officers confirmed Johnson was not at either of the local hospitals or in the county jail.

“This is very out of character for him and we are all very worried about him,” read a post by Lytaunie Blasdel regarding his disappearance on a Facebook page for new and used items in the valley. “Please let us know if there is anything that you know. He just got married last week and for him to dissapear (sic) is very strange.”

Johnson is described as 5-9, between 180 and 190 pounds, and soft spoken. According to a press release issued by the Kalispell Police Department on Wednesday, he was last seen wearing a gray Green Bay Packers T-shirt, faded green and gray camouflage shorts, blue and black DC tennis shoes and a black Columbia zip-up fleece jacket.

Johnson reportedly left his residence with some unidentified friends Sunday night, according to police. It is unknown where he intended on going, but information obtained by police possibly suggests he accompanied the unidentified vehicle occupants into the West Glacier or Hungry Horse area.

“Cody’s a huge motorhead, into cars, tweaking, fixing them, blowing them up,” Fredrickson said. “He’s very jovial. He’s a real joy to be around. He’s an individual that will always go out of his way to make sure he’s there to help you, one of the most selfless people I know.”

An investigation by Kalispell Police is ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is encouraged to call Detective Melissa Smith at 758-7791.
