Polson couple killed in head-on crash near Big Arm

POLSON — A pickup truck and a passenger car collided head-on Tuesday on U.S. 93 between Elmo and Big Arm, killing both people in the car.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the pickup driven by a 16-year-old Polson boy was northbound at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a car. 

A 71-year-old woman in the car died at the scene, while a 74-year-old man died on the way to the hospital. Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said the victims were Wayne and Helen Gryde of Polson.

Information on the extent of the injuries suffered by the driver of the pickup was not available.
