Prairie 'A' sweeps Loggers

COEUR d'ALENE - Dalton Strong went 5 for 7 with three RBIs and scored five runs as the Prairie Cardinals swept the Coeur d'Alene Loggers 11-9 and 9-2 in class A North Idaho League play Tuesday at Ramsey Park.

Strong went 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs in the opener for Prairie. Trystan Valente was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs, and Brian Howell was 2 for 4 with three runs and a two-run single in the fifth.

For the Loggers, Stephen Vaudreul was 3 for 4 and Connor Strand was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.

In the second game, Keanon Naumann was 3 for 4 for Prairie.

Lumberjacks 23

Mead 10

Jake Grinde went 4 for 5 with a triple and drove in five runs to lead the Coeur d'Alene Lumberjacks 16-and-under team over Mead.

Dain Bashaw went 4 for 5 with four RBIs for the Lumberjacks, Payten Zahnow had three hits and two RBIs, Dylan Shaffer had two hits and three RBIs, and Keeton Howard struck out six.

Payten Zahnow had the walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh for the Coeur d'Alene 16-and-under team, scoring Jake Grinde.

Dain Bashaw struck out eight for the Lumberjacks, Keeton Howard hit a double and Grinde hit a two-run homer.

Lakers fall to

division leaders

SPOKANE - The Coeur d'Alene Lakers 16U squad lost 9-2 and 9-7 to division-leading Mt. Spokane. Paul Laster went 2 for 3 with two doubles in the second game for Coeur d'Alene.

The Lakers return to action Friday at Mead.

fundraiser

breakfast Saturday

COEUR d'ALENE - Le Peep restaurant will participate in a fundraiser with the Coeur d'Alene American Legion baseball program Saturday at the Le Peep location in Riverstone. The Legion players will be busing tables and assisting the wait staff Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A portion of the receipts will be donated to the Coeur d'Alene Legion program. Customer are asked to mention they are there for the Legion fundraiser when paying their bill, and a portion of the check will go to the Legion program.
