In this position, Pool's responsibilities will include managing all three of the bank's SBA departments in Boise, Spokane and Coeur d'Alene along with providing loans and small business consultations to customers of all three markets.

Pool, who began his banking career in 1975 in Sheridan, Wyo., at the Bank of Commerce (now First Interstate), has worked for a variety of financial institutions ranging in asset size from $200 million to $62 billion. His focus on SBA lending began in 1984 and he has since worked primarily in small independent banks specializing in commercial lending with an emphasis on small business loans and loans guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture rural and community loan programs.

Prior to joining Mountain West Bank, Pool was the Market President at ANB Bank in Gillette, Wyo. Before that, he was a VP/Senior Commercial Loan Officer for Farmers State Bank.

He was born and raised in Sheridan, Wyoming, and graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Business and Finance. Pool has been named as part of two SBA awards for Small Business Excellence/New Markets, and was appointed by the Mayor of Los Angeles and the L.A. SBA District Office to an SBA advisory committee to oversee a "One Stop Capital Shop," which provided access to much needed credit for under-served areas in the city of Los Angeles. He has been a Kiwanian since 1984 and has served as President and on the board of five Kiwanis Clubs. His public service includes time as president/board member of the Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce and was elected to the Hamilton (Mont.) school board in 2007. He is a past President of the Western Montana Risk Management Association in Missoula, which provides training to bankers throughout the region.
