Suspect jailed in Kalispell stabbing incident

A Kalispell man is in jail after reporting himself for assaulting another man with a knife when he apparently came home to find the man with his ex-girlfriend early Wednesday morning.
Scott Peter Bolt, 19, initially is charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder for the incident. He is in the Flathead County Detention Center.
According to a dispatch log, Bolt called police at 3:32 a.m. to report that he had just assaulted a man at his First Street West apartment. The log indicates Bolt said he walked into the apartment to find the pair together and that he cut the back of the man's neck with a knife.
Yet Bolt knew something the victim didn't, according to Kalispell Police Department Officer Steve Hoover.
“The victim had left — he didn't know he'd been stabbed,” Hoover said.
A few minutes after Bolt called police, a gas station clerk called to say a man had come in with a cut on his neck.
“The attendant said, 'You've been stabbed,'” Hoover said.
The clerk said the man tried to leave the store, saying police did not need to respond.
The victim eventually was transported to the hospital emergency room. He was treated there and released at about 8:30 a.m.
Bolt waited outside the apartment in his truck for police to arrive, then he was arrested.
