Robert Wright Wilson, 89, of Hayden, passed away July 2, 2013, at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. Robert was born in Plevena, Mont., to Walter and Ethel (Wright) Wilson. Robert and his family moved to the North Idaho area when he was 8 years old and he grew up in this area until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as a young man. He fought in World War II and received the Purple Heart.
Bob met his lovely wife, Maria, in El Paso, Texas, where they were married in 1962. Bob always said it was love at first sight. They had two daughters, Elaine and Cindy.
Bob worked for several newspapers throughout his career: The Spokesman Review, The Oklahoman and The Las Vegas Review Journal. He then joined the U.S. Post Office and worked 17 years there until he retired in 1988. After retirement, Bob and Maria moved to Hayden where they have made their home.
Bob loved his family and reading was his primary hobby.
Bob is survived by his wife, Maria of Hayden; his daughter, Elaine Ward of Las Vegas, Nev.; his daughter, Cindy Wilson of Palatine, Ill.; two grandchildren, Brian and Rebecca of Las Vegas; and his sister, Lucille Shumway of Kirkland, Wash.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of North Idaho and Hospice House for their wonderful care of Robert in the last few months. Robert requested that no services be held.
