MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Sheriff's Office announced a Level 2 sex registered to live in Moses Lake.

Robert Gage Curtis, 31, recently moved into the 800 block of West Broadway Avenue.

Curtis was convicted of third-degree child molestation in 2005 involving a 15-year-old girl he met at a party when he was 22, according to the sheriff's office.

Curtis was also previously convicted for failing to register as a sex offender.

He is described as a white male, 5-feet-9 inches tall, 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

While incarcerated, Curtis did not participate in the sex offender treatment program and he is on community supervision with the state Department of Corrections.

As a Level 2 sex offender, Curtis provides a moderate risk to re-offend.

It is against the law to threaten, intimidate or harass offenders, according to the sheriff's office.

State law authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender when, in the agency's discretion, it will enhance public safety and protection.

The sheriff's office reminds residents Curtis served the sentence and is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. He is only required to register.

The purpose behind community notification is to reduce the chance of future victimization by better informing the public.
