COEUR d'ALENE - The 30th anniversary of the Coeur d'Alene Triathlon is Aug. 10, and this special date will bring something new to the event.

"This year we are excited to announce the addition of a new Sprint Distance Triathlon along with our Olympic distance," said Steve Wilson, president/CEO of the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce. "With a separate women's and men's wave swim start, this new sprint will allow for new competitors to be introduced to the sport."

The Scenic Sprint is a 500-yard swim, a 13-mile bike and a 3.1-mile run. The sprint will start just after the Olympic distance race begins.

The Olympic distance triathlon includes a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run. Dubbed the "Scenic Challenge," the Coeur d'Alene Tri dates back to 1984. The start, finish and all transition areas will be in the Coeur d'Alene City Park.

The Coeur d'Alene Tri is a USAT sanctioned race. Registration and general info for both races: www.cdatriathlon.com
