MOSES LAKE - The 13U Moses Lake Dunes are state champions.
The Dunes, members of the Babe Ruth league, won the North Washington State Tournament this past week.
The deciding win came over the Mount Vernon Bulldogs as Moses Lake edged out the victory 5-3.
The club bounced back from an early 10-3 loss to the Bulldogs on Thursday by winning three straight games beginning with a 12-11 victory over Ephrata and back-to-back wins over Mount Vernon Friday and Saturday.
The team preparing for the Northwest Regional Tournament next week in Centralia. The Moses Lake Dunes are representing for North Washington and will face teams from South Washington, North and South Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alberta.
Moses Lake's first game is against Wyoming July 29 at 11:30 a.m. The regional championship game is scheduled for 10 a.m. on August 4.
The team is hoping that local business can help with travel and boarding expenses.
Ward Harrington, the team's score keeper, estimated that it costs $1000 for each team member.
