ActiveWest Builders earns green nod for homes

ActiveWest Builders has received notification from The United State Green Building Council that five more homes in its active adult 55-plus community, Meadow Ranch, were approved for LEED for Homes Platinum Certification.

All of the homes in Meadow Ranch are built to the standards of USGBC's LEED for Homes Certification Program.

A LEED-certified home is designed and constructed in accordance with the guidelines of the LEED for Homes criteria.

LEED for Homes is a consensus-developed, third party-verified, voluntary rating system which promotes the design and construction of high-performance healthy green homes. LEED for Homes is a green home certification system that provides guidance and verification that homes are designed and built to be energy- and resource-efficient and healthy for occupants.

To date, AWB has built and pending about 45 LEED, primarily Platinum, homes.

The five homes - three on West Knoll Lane and two on North Meadow Ranch Avenue in Coeur d'Alene - were verified by Peter Anderson of Anderson Consulting.
