MOSES LAKE — Power outages occurred Monday night at dusk for 1,425 Grant PUD customers on Stratford Road from Road 7 North. Outages were because of a damaged lightning arrester, which is designed to protect electricity lines in case of a lightning strike. There was no lightning, only a surge of electricity that caused the equipment to fail, Thomas Stredwick, a Grant PUD spokesperson, said Tuesday.

PUD crews restored power by 11:35 p.m. Monday. To stay up to date on local news, read Wednesday's edition of the Columbia Basin Herald.
