Rex Oare, formerly of Dalton Gardens, passed away at the age of 79 in his sleep at home on Saturday, July 6, 2013, in Yuma, Ariz. He was born March 28, 1934, to Ted and Nina Oare in Provo, Utah. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 where he spent most of his time aboard ships in the far east. He married Fay Jacobsen, while on leave from the Navy, on Aug. 23, 1955.

Rex retired early in 1983 as a cable splicer with General Telephone Company in Coeur d’Alene. For the next 10 years, he worked as a contractor with telephone companies in Alaska and throughout the Northwest.

Rex and Fay began traveling with their fifth wheel in the early 1990s and then settled in Yuma in 1999.

Rex and Fay have three children: Ted and Carole Oare of Everett, Wash., and their children Richard, Christina and Stephanie; Debbie and Marc Arrasmith of Palouse, and their two sons, CJ and Curtis; and Steve and Frances Oare of Wichita, Kan., and their children Jacob and Rebecca. Rex is survived by three brothers, Max of Riverdale, Utah; George of Yuma, and Chuck of Coeur d’Alene; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Yuma. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. Eighth Ave., Yuma, AZ 85364.
