Collage Gallery of Fine Art will feature photorealistic paintings and murals during the month of August.

Oscar Solis Marin and Juana Cortez Zalazar, famous husband and wife team from Guadalajara, Mexico, will present their show, “Trashumantes,” exhibiting the widely appreciated painting technique of photorealism.

A lifelong dream allowed them to travel throughout the Mexican Republic; during this time the artists have come into close contact with “almost forgotten inhabitants of mystical lands of the past, and want to bring them to us through their art.” They embrace the meaning of what it is to be Mexican in a shrinking world. They capture, during traditional Mexican celebrations, similar to celebratory themes throughout the world, the colors, movements, smiles and ageless faces.

Their paintings aim to go beyond what the eye can see and bring to the viewer a sense of what it means to be human.

Nationally known Montana artist Dana Boussard will show new work at the gallery starting Friday.

Boussard is famous for her large murals created for public places such as the airport in Anchorage, Alaska; the Reserve Bank of Minneapolis; and the Montana State Library in Helena. She recently completed a two-year project of glass windows designed for Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Great Falls.

In her studio work she creates large layered fabric collages, as well as poetic paintings and drawings that reflect her connection to the land and her life in Montana.

Boussard was born in Choteau, where her artist mother encouraged her artistic talent. Her first art project was winning a competition at the University of Oregon to create a large fabric tapestry. Since then, she has completed more than 50 mural projects throughout the United States.

Boussard has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and awards including Montana’s Governor’s Award and Outstanding Alumni in the Arts from the University of Montana. She now lives and works at her home by the Jocko River in Arlee.

Collage Gallery will host an opening reception for both exhibits from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. “Trashumantes” and Boussard’s work will be on display throughout the month of August. The public is invited to the reception, and refreshments will be served.

The gallery is located at 573 Electric Ave., Bigfork. Contact Collage Gallery at 837-0866 for more information and occasions the artists will be present.
