Aerial ignition utilizes a hopper loaded with Potassium Permanganate filled ping-pong balls. Prior to being dropped the ping-pong balls are needle injected with ethylene glycol-based antifreeze. Twenty seconds later the balls ignite, providing a reliable means of controlled burning. "It's a pretty safe, simple device," Borgen said.
