A troublesome logjam on the Flathead River claimed a few more victims Saturday night when two people were temporarily caught on the floating menace.

According to Brian Heino, search and rescue coordinator with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, two people on inner tubes were briefly waylaid from their friends when they got hung up on the logjam at about 7:30 p.m. Their companions were a little luckier.

“They were on a big circular raft, like a lake toy, with six seats in a circle,” Heino said. “They actually made it past the jam and pulled over to the east.”

Heino said that the duo on the logjam quickly made it off and were able to meet back up with their friends downstream before most of the resources arrived.

Dispatched to the logjam — located just north of the Montana 35 bridge — were the sheriff’s office, Flathead County Search and Rescue, Evergreen Fire Rescue, Two Bear Aviation, and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
