Whistling Duck launches software service in Coeur d'Alene

For the past few years, Andy and Natalie Adams have been building websites and software through their web consultancy Over the Barn. Now, they are expanding their business to the nonprofit sector with their new software service, Whistling Duck.

Headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Whistling Duck aims to be the quickest and easiest way for nonprofits of all sizes to save time tracking contacts, logging donations and following up with tax receipts.

Country Boy Cafe re-opens at 6160 E. Highway 54 in Athol

Dan and Lori Holmes recently re-opened the Country Boy Cafe, 6160 E. Highway 54, Athol.

The cafe is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week. It offers a variety of breakfast and lunch items, including chicken fried steak, eggs to order, sandwiches, soups and salads.

Orr joins University of Idaho staff as clinical assistant professor

Mary Orr has joined the University of Idaho-Coeur d'Alene as a clinical assistant professor in literacy.

Orr previously worked for the Post Falls School District and has taught for the University of Idaho as a graduate teaching assistant and temporary faculty member.

She is a graduate of the University of Idaho, receiving her bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education, a master's degree in special education and is finishing her doctorate. Her research focuses on analyzing online learning readiness of students in secondary grades.

In her new position with the University of Idaho, Orr will support the implementation and design of the elementary education program and will also teach education core courses out of the Coeur d'Alene center.

Hospice of North Idaho, Shoshone Medical Center sign contract

A new contract between Hospice of North Idaho and Shoshone Medical Center will allow Hospice of North Idaho to be able to provide inpatient hospice care at Shoshone Medical Center for Shoshone residents enrolled in Hospice of North Idaho's services.

Prior to the creation of this contract, patients in Shoshone County were transported to Hospice of North Idaho's Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene when their symptoms could not be managed at home or were in need of a higher level of care than could be provided at home.

Hospice of North Idaho's Shoshone office is located at the Shoshone Medical Center's Wellness Fitness Center, 204 Oregon St. in Kellogg.

Hospice of North Idaho's other offices include its St. Maries annex, its main office in Hayden, and the Hospice House, in Coeur d'Alene.
