Celtic tour to play in West Glacier
Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 11 years, 5 months AGO
Willson & McKee, a nationally touring duo specializing in traditional Irish and Scottish and original acoustic will perform Aug. 16 and 17 in Glacier National Park.
The group plays at the Montana House in Apgar Village in shows co-hosted by the Montana House and the Glacier National Park Conservancy. Both concerts start at 7 p.m.
Willson & McKee play “Rocky Mountain Celtic” — what Celtic becomes when it settles comfortably three generations in the west. It is Americans doing what they do best: Interpreting their roots music in fresh and original ways. The combination of their Celtic heritage plus the duo’s Montana and Colorado roots gives audiences a distinctive musical experience.
The concert will include material from Willson & McKee’s nine recordings, including their latest collection from their last tour to Scotland.
Kim McKee received 15 years of classical training before turning to traditional Irish and Scottish music 30 years ago. She moves effortlessly between her instruments, which include accordion, folk harp, guitar, dulcimers, and bodhran — and she never passes up an opportunity to teach a Ceilidh dance.
Ken Willson is the pulsing folk drive, with an engaging tenor voice, tasteful guitar and bouzouki foundations enhancing the distinctive material. A weaver of wit and tales, he can also spin a fine Ceilidh swing on the dance floor.
The event is open to the public with a $5 charge per person. Seating is limited, so reservations are needed. Call 888-5393 or email 1960mthouse@qwestoffice.net for additional information and to reserve tickets.
