SUPERIOR - The Mineral County Fair and Rodeo holds a special place in the hearts of residents and visitors alike. It is a time to relax, a time to take in bull-riding and wild-cow milking with friends and family. A time to celebrate the efforts of the county’s 4-H participants.
This year’s fair is aptly themed “Places in the Heart” and from August 1-3 the fairgrounds will be a hub of activity featuring 4-H exhibits, a flower show, a quilt show, kids activities, a talent contest, yummy food and great live music.
Residents of Mineral County are encouraged to enter their handiwork – whether it’s needle point, art, wood crafts or livestock – into the fair by finding the division, class and lot in which your particular entry fits. Entry forms are found in the fair book, which was distributed throughout Mineral County.
Entries for everything but the floral show are due to the 4-H building in Superior on Wednesday, July 31 between 3:00 and 5:00 pm, where clerks will be waiting to check them in. Entries will also be accepted on Thursday, August 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 am. At nine the building is closed and judging begins.
The floriculture (flower) exhibits are accepted for entry at the junior high school building, 9 to 11 am on Friday, Aug. 2. Floriculture judging begins at 1 pm, Friday.
All exhibits must be left in the junior high building, the barn area or 4-H Building until 6 pm on Saturday, Aug. 3. Persons with exhibits may come to the fair office beginning at 6 pm to pick up the premium money their blue and red ribbons earned them, and their special premiums, if any.
Whether you are entering a prized rabbit or a creative quilt or not, come out to the Mineral County Fair and Rodeo beginning Thursday.
