Gladys M. (Rogers) Padgitt, 87, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away at home on May 29, 2013. She was born on Aug. 6, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roy and Irene (Sharp) Rogers.
She married William C. Padgitt on April 17, 1946. Gladys and William and their three children moved from Des Moines, Iowa, to Southern California in 1961. The children married and moved away and then after William retired, Gladys and William moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1986 to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Padgitt in 2002 and a brother, Alpheus Rogers in 1976. She has one surviving sister, Mary Lee Davis in Austin, Texas; and three children, son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Tina Padgitt of Hayden, daughter and son-in-law, Eulee and Frank Mason, and daughter Anna Mae Padgitt, all of Coeur d’Alene. She has three grandchildren, Debbie Hummel of Coeur d’Alene, Danny and his wife Heather Mason of Valrico, Fla., and Ryan Padgitt of Tempe, Ariz.; and five great-grandchildren, Justen Hummel of Coeur d’Alene, Hunter and Cody Mason of Valrico, and Ruger and Alex Padgitt of Tempe. She has two stepdaughters, Mary Jane George and Jackie Solomon and their children, Randy, Ronda, Michael, Teddy and Teresa; and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Gladys grew up loving to roller skate and bowl and just having fun with family and friends around. She always said “Come on over, the more the merrier.” She was loved by all that met her and she will be missed by so many.
Viewing for family will be held from 9-9:30 a.m.; friends may join the family for funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel; followed by graveside service at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
