Over acidity can become a dangerous condition that weakens all body systems and is very common today. It gives rise to an internal environment conducive to disease, as opposed to a pH balanced environment which allows optimal body function.

The human blood pH should be at a slightly alkaline level of 7.35-7.45. A pH scale will show 7.0 as neutral and below 7.0 as acidic. Many functions will only optimally take place when the cells are within a specific pH range.

Acidiosis is so common in the modern world because of our diet, lifestyle, and environment. Diets consisting primarily of acid forming foods such as meats, flour and sugar based products, coffee and soda, and artificial sweeteners cause the cellular pH to drop into the acidic range. Emotional stress, sleep deprivation, smoking and medications also increase the acidity in the body. If the body becomes too acidic, cells cannot function properly.

Some of the most common health conditions related to acidic body environment are lack of energy, frequent colds and flus, osteoporosis, heartburn, chronic headaches, insomnia, and even cancer and tumor growth.

The best way to correct an acid imbalance is through nutrition and lifestyle changes. The main alkaline forming foods are fresh fruits, vegetables, almonds, olive oil, and green or herb teas. Whole food supplements such as JuicePlus+ and green foods (spirulina, chlorophyll, etc.) can also help. Other changes should include stress reduction, limiting exposure to toxins (smoking and chemicals), and drinking pure water.

It is important to know if your body is acidic and susceptible to illness. Fortunately, the test is simple and uses just your saliva and a pH test strip. Call Cunningham Chiropractic at 208-635-5658 to schedule your free pH test.
