There is a pain-free way to travel

Summer time is a great time to travel; the weather is nice, our vacation time has finally piled up, and the kids are out of school. Whether you are planning to travel by land, air, or sea, the one thing that should not have a reservation on your itinerary is pain.
Pain can sneak up on you in many ways while you're on vacation, but the most common time for pain to occur is as you're traveling to and from your destination. When you are stuck in an enclosed area for an extended period of time, you are forced to maintain a stationary position. The human body is made for continual movement, so as you are immobile for a lengthy amount of time, heath issues may arise. Some issues that you may encounter include decrease in muscle function, diminishing circulation and possible blood clots.
There are ways to maintain your body's quality of function while on a road trip. Just remember to keep it moving! Little tricks such as pumping your legs up and down, rotating your ankles and shoulders around in circles, stretching your calves and arms, and rolling your neck from side to side can all keep your blood pumping and your muscles from getting cramped. However, sometimes these techniques are not enough, you may still come back from vacation with a body full of cramps, aches, and pains. If you have encountered sore muscles or loss of motion from sitting too long, physical therapy can help get you back on your feet.
At Pinnacle Physical Therapy, our staff is highly trained on a variety of specialties ranging from back and neck treatment, shoulder and knee treatment, pre and post operative therapy, pediatric physical therapy, and women's health. We can help you restore and improve mobility to return your body to normal motion. At Pinnacle, we take a comprehensive approach and evaluate all related tissues to make sure we are helping you progress as quickly and effectively as.
Do not fret! There is no reason for you to cancel your next road trip extravaganza, call Pinnacle Physical Therapy today at one of our two convenient locations - Post Falls at (208) 777-4242 or Coeur d'Alene at (208) 665-2000 or visit us at www.pinnaclephysicaltherapy.org.

We live amongst a digital society where most communication is completed through our smart phones, iPads and laptops, our books are read on nooks and kindles, and our physical activity comes from Wii Fit and Xbox connect. While these devices are a form of convenience and efficiency they may be a source of pain and injury, according to physical therapists from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
