Louise E. Shaw entered into her heavenly rest on April 23, 2013. She was born Dec. 19, 1916, to Rev. and Mrs. F.S. Mitchell in Dayton, Ohio. Her primary places of residence during her lifetime were Spokane where she graduated from North Central High School in 1934 and Spirit Lake where she lived with her husband and children for 32 years in their home on the lake. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Spirit Lake for 24 years, retiring as Postmaster in 1977.
She moved to Coeur d’Alene with her husband in 1982 where she resided for 19 years. During her time there she was an active member of the Coeur d’Alene Bible Church. In 2001 she moved to Holman Gardens Retirement community in the Spokane Valley where she resided for the remaining 12 years of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamara M. Shaw of Chehalis, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Frederick M. and Patty J. Shaw of Woodinville, Wash.; son Michael D. Shaw of Spokane; sister Roma Jean Jamison of Tennessee; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick D. Shaw and daughter Paula L. Delaney, both of Coeur d’Alene; brothers, Paul P. Mitchell of Bellingham, Wash., and Fred L. Mitchell of Seattle; and sisters Ruth A. Dawson of Spokane, Helen M. Cook of Bainbridge, Wash., and Frances B. Beam of Bothell, Wash.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Spokane Valley Baptist Church, 1222 South McDonald Road, Spokane Valley, with Pastor Sidney Johnson officiating.
