Martha Jane Kinney, 80

Martha Kinney passed away on June 3, 2013. She was born in California on May 28, 1933, to George and Zelma Sandford.
Shortly after birth the family moved home to Missouri. Martha lived in Joplin, Mo., where she graduated high school. In 1952 she married Joe D. Kinney. They had three children (Zee, Rae and JoAnn). Martha worked in her mother’s yarn shop for years, then worked in the sewing department of both Montgomery Ward and Walmart.
After her husband passed away in 1981, she moved to Coeur d’Alene to be near her brothers (John and Frank Sandford). In Idaho she made crafts and worked craft shows in several states, selling quilts, jackets and knitting items. She spent her retirement years knitting and doing garden work.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Rae Rutherford (Spokane), JoAnn Walker (Oklahoma City, Okla.); and brothers, John Sandford (Coeur d’Alene) and Frank Sandford (Spokane); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Zee Quintana and her brother, Harold Sandford.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her niece Jodi’s house, 731 E. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Bell Tower Funeral Home, Post Falls, is in care of the arrangements.
