Harmonizers place fourth in chorus competition

The Lake City Harmonizers, a barbershop harmony chapter of the International Harmony Society, the largest men's singing group in the universe, recently toured to Bozeman, Mont., to join 24 other choruses and quartets for Division Competition.
The Harmonizers placed fourth in the chorus competition, behind Boise, Spokane and Bozeman. Director Ron Reed was pleased with the improvement in points over the last time the group was judged by a panel of experts in music, presentation and singing categories.
The Harmonizers have been spreading the joy of harmony throughout North Idaho since 1980. They are active in the community, performing every year at the Kootenai County Fair, and at The Coeur d'Alene Resort during the Christmas season. They deliver many "singing valentines" each year, and open North Idaho College basketball games with the national anthem. Then there are the contests and annual shows.
The Harmonizers meet every Monday at 7 p.m. at Heart of the City Church, Emma and Lincoln Way, Coeur d'Alene. They would like to increase their size, and invite any man who can carry a tune to come and learn to harmonize songs with three other parts. Their theme song is "Keep the Whole World Singing."
The Harmonizers are planning a show in November and would like to audition men for the songs they have selected to learn for that show.
Membership in the Society will not be necessary for the show, but a special effort to recruit younger men posts a real bargain: Any man 25 years old or younger, can get a full year's membership for only $10. This includes many benefits and privileges.
