Scout eyes Eagle project at Hospice House

For a Boy Scout Eagle project, Ernest Mendez wants to build and raise a flag pole at Hospice House at 2290 W. Prairie Ave.
But the 15-year-old from Troop 3 and Lake City High School said he needs a bit of help with funding.
Last week he had a benefit concert and raised about $500, but he needs about $1,000 more to get the flag-pole project off the ground. He said his goal is to have it in place by the Fourth of July.
"They always needed a flag pole," said Mendez. "It might make everyone feel a little more at home, especially for veterans."
Kim Ransier, executive director of Hospice of North Idaho, couldn't agree more.
"We have so many veterans who we care for," she said. "To me it just doesn't seem like the facility is complete without an American flag out there."
She said scouts have completed other projects for Hospice and done a great job.
Mendez is the son of Max and Michelle Mendez of Hayden.
Donations to the "Flag Fund" can be given to Hospice House at 2290 W. Prairie Ave., or Hospice of North Idaho at 9493 N. Government Way.
"If we raise more than is needed for the flag, it will go to Hospice as well," Mendez said.
