Leah Marie Kelly Galloway, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
She was born to Nora Francis Adams and George Arthur Kelly on Sept. 10, 1930. She grew up in Polson in the Valley View area with her four brothers and four sisters. She attended school there and loved playing the drums in the high school band. They all helped with the family farm.
She was married on March 27, 1949, to Calvin Rex Galloway at her parent’s home in Polson. They were sealed in the Alberta Temple on March 16, 1963.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin; sister, Georgia and Ron Snyder of Deer Park, Wash.; daughter, Tessa and Kent Hill; sons Gayle Rex and Val Galloway, Kelly and Linda Galloway, Jerry and Geri Galloway, Alan Galloway, and Corby and Tiffany Galloway, all of Kalispell; daughter, Leola and Morris Stout of Nampa, Idaho; 33 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and foster child Buckly Isakson.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Adam Stout; her parents; all four brothers; and three sisters.
She was involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a primary president, relief society counselor and Sunday school teacher. She was an avid genealogist and completed all temple ordinances for her parents, brothers and sisters who preceded her in death. She strengthened her community by serving as a Cub Scout leader, and was in Boy Scout leadership positions for over 50 years, earning her Silver Beaver award. Her great love was her family. She was a dedicated homemaker who would bake 12 loaves of bread and make scones every week with much tender, loving care. She loved to crochet, quilt and craft. She was a daycare provider for many years. Leah is known to many outside of her family as “Grandma” and “Auntie Leah.”
Visitation for Leah will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and again from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14 at the church, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located at 1380 Whitefish Stage Road.
The funeral is under the direction of Johnson-Gloshat Funeral Home.
