MOSES LAKE - Big Bend Community College will sponsor a recognition ceremony for people who received General Equivalency Degrees through the college at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallenstein Theater, 7662 Chanute St., Moses Lake.

"Earning the GED opens doors for people to get a job, get a better job or continue their education," said Sandy Cheek, the college's director of basic skills. The GED ceremony "is one of the most positive and emotional events held on campus each year," said Doug Sly, the college's public information director.

Recipients are loaned caps and gowns for the ceremony. There's an open microphone so GED recipients can tell their stories.
