It is well known that strenuous activity can cause our body harm if we're not careful. We understand that the more active we become, the possibility of us getting hurt increases. However, are you aware that the longer we sit throughout the day, the higher the chance of us damaging our body?

Research shows that around 65 percent of the population either holds desk jobs or works on computers throughout the day. This means that over half of the working population spends the majority of their day sitting down. Although sitting down does not appear to be damaging to the human body, the simple action, or lack thereof, is slowly chipping away at our health. Sitting behind a desk for long periods of time can create poor circulation for our joints and muscles. Knowing how your body works and requires movement to maintain strength and flexibility, you can imagine the aches and pains consuming your body as it maintains a stationary position.

This scary notion can easily be remedied by consciously making the effort to move around. This may entail simple actions such as standing up for 30 seconds, rolling your shoulders backwards, or merely stretching your arms and legs. Workplace wellness is an important aspect of any job. It is essential that you understand the ways to stay healthy and unharmed in your daily life, and furthermore, it is critical to continue this pattern at work. You don't have to fight this battle alone; physical therapy can help you prepare your body for maximum comfort and safety while you are sitting at work.
