Lying: The latest art form

A neighbor recently made a statement that stuck like glue to my senses. "Lying has become an art form" fits the current day we live in, in the truest sense. The distortions and definition changes of our vocabulary leave truth out of the context. It is now a very proud accomplishment to find a way to twist the facts into some idealistic belief system that someone else will naively swallow. Lying no longer causes shame but instead encourages people to manipulate others in prideful results.
Current hot issues locally to nationally have now fallen into the "politically correct" category instead of basic truth with a foundation of right or wrong. In fact, right is now wrong and wrong is now right! You will note that standing for our classic standards that founded and established this free nation is now wrong and therefore "hate." It has become very tiresome to read the "hate" articles against Christian/Judeo values that are actually the true hate by definition.
You cannot correct (not condemn) a lifestyle if you don't define it first and provide a loving and caring new choice. I personally have relatives and friends professing to be "gay" (wrong definition) that I love and will stand beside them. I do not support their chosen (not born) lifestyle any more than I do not support the other sins we choose. Do you see parades of child molesters, adulterers, fornicators, liars, thieves? Some of them also claim "they can't help it" therefore assume they are born that way?! Addiction takes on many faces and forms but is still addiction, not birth differences.
I doubt if there is anyone reading this that has not committed one of these or some other choice sins (I know you "hate" that word) but we all have to face and correct these choices. Praise God for His forgiveness! We can repent but not continue in that choice! Love should be unconditional in the heart of a Christian. That does not mean we ignore sin in our lives or those we love! We correct our kids out of tough love to help them, not hurt them. This is so true of our community as well. Misrepresenting truth never helped anybody.
Please believe me when I say the true Christians do not relate or want to be identified by the Westboro Baptist Church. We love our military and our fellow brothers and sisters. We will continue to stand for what is right or wrong unwaveringly but out of love not hate! Right now discrimination is truly being reversed and by the very actions now being projected is actually promoting reverse discrimination and schisms that had not been prevalent before with many more problems to come.
Another area getting really tiresome is the distortions and definition of the word "illegal." What part of that word don't we understand? Whether it be guns, immigration or other movements, it is now the idealistic response to prefer illegal people and projects to legal law abiding citizens. The preferential treatment being propagated for the immigrants that never tried to honor our laws and requirements, some of which had many years to do so, is a bit overwhelming. I think of all the students that did not even get to go to college due to finances and not wanting overwhelming indebtedness. I think of all the laws each and everyone of us must obey or pay the consequences unconditionally yet everything the "illegal" project or "illegal" immigrant does adds to the illegal activity and financial drain of our nation with continuous support of our "enlightened" leaders!
I think is it about time to build our ark!

In response to Chad Solsvik's recent column, let's start with the first word - memo! Any memo I've received was short, precise, and to the point. None of these normal expectations apply to this convoluted mixture of ideas and topics!

Practice what we preach
Mr. Ruskovich's My Turn article "Voters: We don't need no education" meant to slam the intelligence of our Idaho citizens disturbed me to say the least. His premise that we don't practice what we preach in support of education issues requires a response. He is right about our simplicity. As a senior citizen I have watched Idaho grow and change through the years but one thing screams out loud and clear. We have simply preached and practiced that if you can't afford it, don't buy it! You live within your means but set goals for your future.
